Six Days Until We Leave

Wow! We are six days out from beginning out trip to China and beginning our life with Anya Mei! We are so excited! This morning as Nate and I were sitting out on our deck sipping tea, we were watching our three blonde girls (our boy was still sleeping) playing on the swing set imagining a fourth daughter - black hair - playing with them:) A smile curled on my face and as I looked at Nate and our eyes met, I knew he was imagining the same thing. Sometimes it is so strange to think about flying across the world to get our daughter - OUR daughter:) It makes me so happy to say that!
I was sharing with Nate this morning about how this trip will be like stepping into a different life - you leave your house, your kids, and everything you know behind and travel to a foreign country where you are presented with a child who is one and looks nothing like you! You then get to play house with a new child (who's one) in a foreign place for two weeks before returning to "your life" with a new member:) It's all so strange and wonderful at the same time! We can't wait to get this new chapter in life going! Officially we've only waited two years for this time to arrive, but in our hearts, the wait has been for 11. Anya Mei has been loved, prayed for, and held within our hearts for 11 years and now we are finally actually going to be a family:) Can't Wait! Baby Girl, we are on our way to Get Ya;) We'll see you soon!

  2. Hey sweet friends! I just wrote this long post on here and when I tried to post it, it deleted. Basically what it said was we are praying for you all and love you all so much. We know you guys are so excited yet miss those sweet little babies at home who await your return with their precious, new little sister! I tried to call you twice before you all left, but the line kept messing up. I wish we could have talked. Thank you for letting us know about this blog. We look forward to reading more about this journey you are on. Give that sweet Anya Mei a big hug from her Uncle Mike and Aunt Laura! We love her so much already too! I wish I could hug the 4 at home! Please feel our arms and prayers surround you all! Please call if you need anything or get a chance. Love you guys so much!

    Laura
